Supporting Critical Infrastructure
The Project
STA was engaged to provide engineering support for the installation of back-up generator fuel tanks for the East Midlands Ambulance Service in Nottingham. The project formed part of a wider resilience strategy to ensure continuous power supply across a critical healthcare facility.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was to minimise the risk of energy interruption in a mission-critical environment where reliability is essential. The system required a robust, long-lasting pipework solution capable of withstanding demanding operational conditions while ensuring safe and efficient fuel transfer.
The Solution
Acting as a complete package provider, STA supplied Vectec with a fully integrated pipework solution, including M-Press stainless steel pipework, valves, and associated pipework fixings and fittings.
M-Press stainless steel was selected for several key reasons:
Corrosion resistance: Ideal for fuel systems, ensuring long-term durability and reduced maintenance requirements.
Press-fit technology: Enabled faster, safer installation without the need for hot works, a significant advantage in sensitive environments.
System reliability: High integrity joints reduce the risk of leaks, supporting operational continuity.
Clean and consistent performance: Stainless steel maintains system cleanliness, which is critical for fuel quality and equipment longevity.
The Result
Undertaking a site visit with the client, STA provided expert guidance on system configuration ahead of the project’s commencement. This proactive approach helped optimise the layout, improve installation efficiency, and enhance overall system performance.
The result was a reliable, high-quality installation that supports uninterrupted power supply, reinforcing the resilience of a vital emergency service.
“This project not only demonstrates the capabilities of STA Technical, but perfectly highlights their collaborative work approach, making them a trusted supplier and partner.”
